Competition Conditions

PRAGUE ORGAN COMPETITION 2027

WHEN: From 6 to 9 October 2027 (preparation from 4 October 2027)

WHERE: Prague

The competition is open to organists whose age does not exceed 35 years on the date of the competition (i.e. born before 8 October 1992)

1st Round – Deadline October 15, 2026

High-quality audiovisual recording of two pieces:

a) Johann Sebastian Bach

One fast movement (1st or 3rd) from the 6 Trio Sonatas BWV 525–530

or a choice from the chorale trios

Herr Jesu Christ, dich zu uns wend' BWV 655

Allein Gott in der Höh' sei Ehr' BWV 664

Allein Gott in der Höh' sei Ehr' BWV 676

b) Any contrasting piece, cycle, or part of a cycle composed after 1800

The maximum duration of the 1st round programme is 15 minutes.

2nd Round – October 6, 2027

(Prague, Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Strahov Monastery – choir organ)

The maximum number of competitors is 12.

Final Round – October 8, 2027

(Prague, Municipal House, Smetana Hall)

The maximum number of competitors is 5.

a) Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy

selection of any piece, cycle, or parts of a cycle

b) Free programme according to the instrument's specification.
Artistic programme selection will also be taken into account. A piece from the first round may be repeated.

Duration of the final round programme: 30–35 minutes.


PRIZES

1st Prize: €3,000

Additional financial prizes and concert engagements will be announced later.
The jury reserves the right to award, divide, or withhold prizes.


On the day of the final round, contestants must not be older than 35 (i.e. born before 8 October 1992). Participants studying with any of the jurors of the second or final round will not be accepted.

Contestants advancing to the second round agree to the publication of the submitted links on the competition's public channel.
